Digital Technology
Photoshop
Before I started this project I already knew quite a lot about Photoshop, because I use it in my graphics lessons in college and I have it installed on my computer at home. However I have learned how to import text from a website into Photoshop which I was able to use for my project. While I was creating my magazine cover I wanted the title to look like the one from Total Film, and on most of those magazines the Total, which is placed inside the F of Film, is transparent so you can see the colour of the background through the text, and I learnt how to do that.

Final Cut Express
I had only used Final Cut Express a little bit before I started this project, so I knew barely anything about the software. However, I can now import my video clips onto the software so I can then use them to create a trailer or film or whatever I need. I have learnt how to cut video clips so I can get rid of parts that I don't want/need and I can also un-group the sound from the video so if I need to shorten one but keep the other the same length I now know how to do that.

Initial Skills Assessment
I can use photoshop quite easily, I use it at home sometimes and my dad has shown me ways to edit and morph images, I also use it in graphics lessons at college. When I did my A1 project, I used photoshop a lot because I did the print project. In photoshop I can confidently edit photos, I can change the colours and make images blend into each other, I can also morph images so they look out of shape, so they are twisted on an angle and I can make text look 3D by adding effects such as drop shadow and outer glow.
With indesign I can confidently place images into a document , I can place them in simple square or rectangular shapes and I can also place them into more obscure shapes such as pentagons and ovals and hexagons. I can add text anywhere onto a document too, I can get it centralised on the page and have the text go around an image instead of overlap.
I am quite good at using a camera, my dad has two cannon cameras at home which are quite like the ones we use in college, so he has shown me some of the settings on the cameras and which one looks good for certain photographs and I am very confident with my photography skills.
I have used final cut a little bit, and I know how to get the film clips from the storage to the timeline, I can add text to a clip too and music. This is a piece of software I am looking forward to learning how to use.
